BIOGRAPHY
As a Franco-Ontarian artist from a small town in Northern Ontario, Mitch Jean creates music with deep roots. Since picking up a guitar for the first time at the age of twelve, he has explored many different musical styles but ultimately found his sound somewhere between modern country and rock. Drawing inspiration from 80s guitar legends like Def Leppard and the songwriting style of country artists such as Eric Church, Mitch Jean has carved out a musical identity all his own. He’s a Canadian country rocker with stories to tell.
A dynamic performer and presenter, Mitch grabs his audience’s attention with his infectious energy, making every show an interactive experience. With searing guitar riffs and a powerful voice, Mitch Jean delivers an unforgettable performance — and that same passion shines through in his recordings. His songs explore life themes inspired by nostalgia and the North, while bringing positivity and fun to his listeners. You can’t help but want to get lost on an old dirt road after hearing Mitch’s music. You can smell the smoke and gasoline, and feel the denim. His songs transport you to a time and place, and the stories he tells through his music come straight from the heart and resonate deeply with his audience.
Mitch’s brand-new French-language album, Pourquoi pas, was produced by award-winning Michel Francoeur (Francis Degrandpré, Noir Silence...). It’s packed with fun, uplifting, exciting, deep, and intense country rock songs that Mitch is truly proud of. It’s also his first French album, and he’s thrilled to have reconnected with his mother tongue through music.
Since its release, Pourquoi pas has seen great success: three singles have reached the Top 100 on the Palmarès Pro Médiabase, with two climbing to #1 on several Francophone radio stations. Promotion of the album is ongoing, with more singles in rotation, and Mitch is now nominated for 2025 Francophone Artist of the Year at the CMAO (Country Music Association of Ontario) — a major recognition in Ontario’s country music scene.
